Multiplication or Generational Strategy
As we consider multiplying generations of disciples and churches that will reach successive generations, we need to ask the question; What is our role in the process?
The best way to explain this is by using the organic family model as a direct parallel. Families reproduce individual children and children grow up and reproduce families. Just as this naturally happens in physical families, we want it to happen in spiritual families. In fact, we are intentionally pursuing this multiplication strategy to advance the gospel into the nations. Healthy children (disciples) will raise up healthy families (groups or churches).
A key part of the multiplication strategy is the continued training of the disciple. Disciples are encouraged to participate in 2 sessions weekly. In the first session they are being trained. In the second they are training others they have led to Christ on what they have already learned. We are asking them to reproduce what they have learned as quickly as possible because this is where the real transformation begins to take place. It may take some disciples time to begin training others but the lessons were designed to be simple enough to reproduce right away by new disciples. As they launch to start their own family (group or church), they are still being mentored by the parental group or church. And because we are encouraging the disciples to “raise their own kids,” these disciple learn disciple-making skills earlier and faster. This is the multiplication strategy.
